Shrew Crew: Outdoor Rehearsals

Shrew crew rehearsals will be outside this week.

For now, everyone should still go to JHE 317 - but keep an eye out for a note directing you to an outdoor location. The note will either be on the door or on the big white board beside the door.

Remember to bring sunscreen, bug spray, appropriate clothing, bee sting medication or anything else you normally have with you when you're going to be outside in the sun for a while.

See you soon.

Flyers Made for the Garage Sale :)

Yay, we have flyers! Lots of them, too! (roughly 1000)

They are sitting at mine & Jared's house, but I'm sure sure if anyone in the house is brave enough to be there at 6 AM -- anyone able to drop by and pick them up, from those whom will be there at 6 AM?

Rob

ps - thanks to Chris for the flyer help today!

Flyers being printed -- might need a hand

If anyone is available at 12:30 today on campus.. drop by design & copy centre, basement of MUSC at 12:30 -- I may need a hand with cutting them.

BMOB 2: This Time, It's Not BMOB 1

Well, if Tori's going to advertise other festivals, then I am, too.

One of the two newest Renaissance Festivals in Ontario, the Royal Abingdon Faire, will be opening it's gates for the first time July 23, 2005! (Which is the day after SDF starts. Coincidence? Well, yes.)

There's girls in corsets, guys in tights, awesome food, large quantities of alcohol, real jousting, a human chess match, fire eating, music, magic shows, the court of King Henry VIII, and a whole lot of Shakespeare including Taming of the Shrew. It seems I can't escape that play this summer.

Anyway, it's at the Royal Botanical Gardens here in Hamilton, and is fully accessible by transit. Gates open at 10:45 and there's shows all day long, as well as random things happening in the streets of our pretend village of Abingdon. The Faire runs every weekend and statutory holiday until Labour day.

Yay.

Rummage Sale Fundraiser - TOMORROW!

Saturday June 25th (tomorrow) is the SDF Rummage Sale Fundraiser! It is going on at 46 Newton Ave. starting at 6am till about noon.

Come out and visit or help. There will be baked goods and lots of stuff to rummage through.

See you there!

Reminder: Director Notes Due June 22nd

A quick reminder that Director Notes are Due June 22nd (tomorrow!) . Please send them to Bryan.
Thanks.

Help Needed - MMT is Moving

Okay, a partial truth. MMT (McMaster Musical Theatre) itself is not moving, but as per a request from SOTA they need to move their set from the storage shed ...

I am asking everyone if they can help MMT move their stuff. They will be relocating their worldly goods either Friday (June 24th), Monday (June 27th) or Tuesday (28th) from noon to 4:00pm on either of those days. If you can come out and lend them a hand, drop me a line [MatlsEng{at}hotmail{dot}com]. If there are any set pieces a show would like to borrow, come on out and see what is available - and help move it to Commons (sneeky aren't I? :)

SDF-Garage Sale: Volunteers Needed!

Sadly, as of right now I do not have any volunteers for the SDF-Garage Sale going on this Sat. June 25th, at 46 Newton Ave :(

If you would so kindly like to volunteer, you can sign up for a 2 hour block of time (or more if you like!).
The times are as follows:

5:30-7am
7am-9am
9am-11am
11am-1pm

I will remain at the sale for the duration of the event and am hoping that at least 2-3 others will help sell with me at all times.

Also If someone out there would like to volunteer to organize selling of baked goods etc, that would be nice too. Perhaps somone would like to host a "baking and poster making party" this Thursday or Friday... just an idea!

If you can help, please email me, or post in the comments!
Thanks!!

Important: Upcoming play premiere at Mac! (help needed!)

Hi everyone

The Department of English is holding a conference at Mac in early/mid July, which will include the first Canadian staged reading/performance of "The Convent of Pleasure", written first in 1668 by Margaret Cavendish, one of the only female playwrights of the era. Actors, crew, and other volunteers are needed. As I understand it, the lines will not require memorization, and costuming will be very limited. This is more of a staged reading than a full production.

It will be directed by Gweno Williams from York St. John College from York, UK. This event is being organized by English grad students.

Please email me at porterrg [at] mcmaster [dot] ca and I will get you in contact with the correct people -- I would recommend your involvement if you have a smaller role in SDF or want some stage performance experience in front of a small audience.

July will be a difficult month to schedule. We're trying to come up with solutions early.

Thanks for your help everybody.

Shrew Crew: Lines Help

I'm going to go to JHE 317 an hour before the first rehearsals on Tuesday - Friday this week. If you need a hand with your lines, come on by.

If you're doing well with your lines, but have a bit of time and would like to help, please consider dropping by once or twice this week to give your castmates a hand.

Shrew Crew: Schedule Up To June 30

The schedule is available on the padua site.

We need your "junk"!!

Hi All

unfortunately I had very few responses to the last email sent out about the idea of having an SDF Garage Sale as a fundraiser. I'm hoping that people had just forgotten to reply or something along those lines..
We now have a tentative date and a location! So maybe this will help people have a better idea if they can help out.
The date we are going to shoot for will be Saturday June 25th (early morning to afternoon) and the location will be 46 Newton Ave. (home to Alex White.. Thanks Alex!!).

So next the most important element to a garage sale is having something to sell, this is where we need EVERYONE's help!
I am asking all of you to look around your homes, your friends and family's homes for some unwanted "junk"...
If you feel that you can make some sort of donation to this garage sale then PLEASE email me and tell me so I know if we have enough to hold this event (specifics are not needed, just "yes i can donate a few things/a bunch or things" etc.)

Also if you can volunteer at the actual garage sale send me a reply!

Perhaps each cast may want to decided on a day where members can bring their donations to one of their rehearsals and I will arrange to take your soon-to-be-someone-else's-treasure away.(If you have any larger/heavy donations other arrangements can be made).

So please please email me with some responses, I like emails :) and I like your "junk" even more! and even more than that I love people who volunteer to help with garage sales!

Hope to hear from all of you soon,

Kasia

Costume Meeting: Shrew

Thanks to the guys who have volunteered to help with costumes for Taming of the Shrew! I really appreciate your help.

We're going to have a meeting to talk about costumes on Monday, June 13 at 7:00 PM in JHE 317. (This is also up on the shrew crew rehearsal calendar.) If you can't come, please let me know and I can try to keep you in the loop.

If you'd like to help with this but haven't emailed me yet - that's ok. Just come to the meeting on Monday. You don't have to be in Shrew to help.

Thanks again!

Hello Everyone!!

I am just posting to remind everyone involved with the festival that your bios for the festival program are due on June 15. Yes...that is one week from today.

As of now, I have received 2 bios and for a festival of this magnitude that is a very disappointing number.

Looking for a lawn!

The Fundraising Committee would really love to organize a garage sale to raise money, but to have one we need a location, and have not had any offers yet. So again we're hoping that someone out there would be able to offer some sort of location for us...even volunteering a friend's/acquaintance’s lawn would be acceptable! Please respond to this message if you can help us out, or send an email to the SDF address.

Thanks! Hope we can make this event happen

Buskerfest in Dundas this weekend...

One more message to everyone --

Friday night opens up Buskerfest for this weekend. I encourage casts to get together and head to Dundas for some great performances. Myself and a few others will be there that night for the open street swing-dance from 6 to sunset. If you ask nicely, you might even be able to get a free lesson or two...

Sponsorship from the Centre for Peace Studies

Hey ho everyone!

A big thank-you goes out to Peace Studies, who has contributed $500 to our festival!

The alumi reunion planning is going very well. We have an invitation list that is currently just over 280 people, and will grow to more soon as word gets out. Alumni Association is being very, very helpful with this.

That's all for now!
